GE Aircraft Engines Teams With Asia Pacific Aerospace To Support Australian Defence Force's Helicopter Engines

March 25, 2003

March 25, 2003 -- EVENDALE, Ohio -- GE Aircraft Engines (GEAE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Asia Pacific Aerospace (APA) to explore teaming as a means to enhance logistics and support capabilities for the Australian Defence Force's (ADF) GE T700 helicopter engines.
The agreement calls for GEAE and APA to establish a T700 maintenance and repair facility in Australia that will improve the capabilities of both companies to provide cost-effective "through life support" for the ADF's T700 engines powering its Black Hawk, Seahawk and Super Seasprite helicopters. In addition, APA will serve as a local "mini-depot" for ADF T700 support.
"This relationship will provide the highest level of support for the ADF's T700 engines," said Tom Brisken, general manager of Military Customer Support at GEAE. "Our goal is to meet all readiness and reliability goals by establishing a long-term working relationship with our customer in Australia."
GE's Strother service facility will support the newly established support facility as necessary.
Headquartered in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, APA won a 13-year contract to provide maintenance and system support for the GE T700 series engines and associated components in June 2002.
GE manufactures T700 helicopter engines in Lynn, Massachusetts USA.
GE Aircraft Engines, a division of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE), is the world's leading manufacturer of jet engines for civil and military aircraft, including engines produced by CFM International, a 50/50 joint company of Snecma of France and GE. GEAE also manufactures gas turbines, derived from its highly successful jet engine programs, for marine and industrial applications. In addition, GEAE provides comprehensive maintenance support, through its GE Engine Services operation, for GE and non-GE jet engines in service throughout the world.
