GE Advanced Gas Turbine Technology to Help East Malaysia's Largest Independent Power Plant Meet Region's Growing Needs

March 13, 2010

Commissioning of the first Frame 6FA gas turbine supplied to the Ranhill Powertron II plant, which will be the largest and most efficient independent power plant in the state of Sabah, East Malaysia.

Ranhill Powertron Project Supports
Malaysia's Goals of Cleaner and More Efficient Power Generation

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA.---MARCH 14, 2010---GE (NYSE:
GE) today announced the commissioning of the first Frame 6FA gas turbine
supplied to the Ranhill Powertron II plant, which will be the largest and most
efficient independent power plant in the state of Sabah, East Malaysia. The
190-megawatt combined-cycle facility will provide power to support the region's
rapid growth, and will support the Malaysian government's energy strategy to
promote cleaner and more efficient power generation.

"Malaysia peak demand growth is projected to average about
3% per year until the year 2020, and the demand is particularly strong in
Sabah, a rapidly developing rural area where the economy is experiencing
dynamic growth. The new plant will help Sabah meet its short-term energy needs while
also playing a key role in the overall enhancement of the region's energy
infrastructure," said Pn. Norlian Abd. Rahim, CEO of Ranhill Power Sdn Bhd.

Both Ranhill Powertron I and II are owned by Ranhill Power
Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Ranhill Bhd. Ranhill is one of Malaysia's largest
companies and is a leading engineering corporation, focusing on industrial
sectors essential to the nation's growth, including oil and gas, power, water
and infrastructure.

"The new power plant will play a significant role in the
ongoing development of the Sabah region," said Kenji Uenishi, President of GE
Energy, Asia Pacific. "By implementing high efficiency, advanced F-class gas
turbine technology, the new facility will offer lower fuel consumption and
improve environmental performance, compared to plants with older technology.
These are key targets of the Malaysian government, as it works to meet the
country's growing power demand in a responsible manner."

GE
supplied two Frame 6FA gas turbine-generator packages, training and technical
advisory services and performance testing.
The plant commenced operation in simple cycle service with the
commissioning of the first turbine and is expected to enter into combined-cycle
operation by the fourth quarter of this year.

GE and Ranhill also signed a 21-year contractual service
agreement that covers repairs, upgrades and outage services for the turbines.

GE Frame 6FA gas turbines have compiled more than 2.5
million operating hours in 30 countries worldwide. The mid-sized member of GE's
fleet of F technology gas turbines, the 6FA gas turbine is designed for high
efficiency, flexibility and reliability in a wide range of applications. In
2009, GE reached a milestone by shipping its 100th 6FA gas
turbine.
