Garuda Indonesia and General Electric's strategic cooperation for aircraft engines, maintenance, and people development announced in the presence of US Secretary of State

Bali, November 18, 2011 - Garuda Indonesia and GE (General Electric) announced their strategic cooperation in Bali today, in the presence of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The cooperation includes the selection of CFM56-5B and LEAP-1A aircraft engines for A320s and A320Neo of Citilink, long-term cooperation in the field of maintenance of CFM56-7B engines used by Boeing 737 NG 800 of Garuda Indonesia. Both contracts were signed at the Dubai Airshow in mid-November 2011 by the President Director of Garuda Indonesia Emirsyah Satar and CEO of CFM International GE Jean-Paul Ebanga.

CFM56 and LEAP engines are products of CFM International, a 50/50 joint company between GE and Snecma (Safran group).

Garuda Indonesia President Director Emirsyah Satar said that this cooperation is a tangible effort for Garuda Indonesia in implementing its fleet revitalization program through high standards of engine maintenance for efficient operations. He added, "This collaboration is also the respect and trust CFM, GE and Snecma to Garuda Indonesia, especially in the success of business transformation program within Garuda".

"This is a strategic step for Garuda Indonesia as a world class airline, to strengthen the fleet with aircraft engines are efficient and environment friendly, develop the ability to overhaul of GMFAeroAsia with our support," said Stuart L.Dean, CEO of GE ASEAN. He added: "Indonesia is an important country for GE, and our support for Garuda Indonesia is a contribution to advancing this country."

CEO of GE Indonesia Handry Satriago said, "Today is a reflection of GE's commitment to become long-term partner for Indonesia, and specifically for Garuda Indonesia, where we expect to give contribution in developing the competitiveness of Indonesian company, not only through reliable technology and long term services for the engines, but also in improving the overhaul capability of Garuda and developing local talent through the program of Leadership Development." Handry also added that "GE business growth will be sustainable if the customer also growth sustainably, the cooperation between GE and Garuda so far has demonstrated that process very well."

Moreover, in the same occasion today, President Director of Garuda Indonesia Emirsyah Satar and CEO GE Indonesia Handry Satriago announced the cooperation in the implementation of Leadership Development Program, a program of development of "future leaders" within Garuda Indonesia. The program is a follow-up to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding conducted in last March 2011 by the two institutions to create "future leaders" in Garuda Indonesia. Several points in the partnership agreement include consultancy curriculum programs by GE, the provision of training "Change Acceleration Program (CAP)" for leaders in Garuda, provide training facilitator for internal facilitators Garuda, GE provides leadership as guest speaker at the "Garuda Executive Leadership Forum" and provide special training programs for executives and elected leaders Garuda.

On the occasion, President Director of Garuda Indonesia Emirsyah Satar said that cooperation with GE's leadership development as part of the implementation of the program "Quantum Leap" Garuda Indonesia in preparing the airlines to be ready to compete internationally in the future.

GE also will assist the preparation and advisory consultancy relating to the preparation of "Corporate University" for the company. Cooperation Implementation of the Leadership Program will also be further developed Garuda Indonesia Training Center (GITC), especially in generating more qualified human resources that will be "future leaders" Garuda Indonesia.
