First SEC-GE Technology Summit in Saudi Arabia discusses latest advances in power generation technology

March 28, 2011

More than 100 engineers from Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) and GE Energy attended the first SEC-GE Technology Summit held recently at Al Faisaliyah Hotel in Riyadh, to discuss the latest advances in power generation technology and equipment, and to share best practices.

A landmark event, the Summit provided a valuable forum for SEC engineering specialists to discuss with GE regional and global engineering specialists advances in modern power generation practices with a focus on 7EA and 7FA turbines, steam turbines and generators.

While addressing GE engineers at the Summit, Eng. Fouad Al Sherebi, Senior Vice President, Generation, SEC, said: "GE and SEC have had a close relationship for over 40 years. There are over 400 GE gas turbines, installed at SEC power plants around the Kingdom, representing 55% of our installed capacity. The inaugural SEC-GE Technology Summit convened engineering leaders from both companies to foster deeper interaction and understanding around technical advancements and ways to enhance maintenance and operations for power generation equipment in the Kingdom. SEC places great emphasis on the reliability and availability of gas turbines and I am confident that this annual SEC-GE Technology Summit will continue to be fruitful and further support the Kingdom's growing electricity needs."

For nearly a century now, GE has been a committed growth partner to Saudi Arabia. GE's knowledge sharing initiatives in the Kingdom feature graduate management leadership programs for Saudi graduates, as well as target curriculums, internships and cooperative learning experiences with leading Saudi higher education institutions.
