FEATURE/GE ClimateKeeper2 Refrigeration Technology Keeps it Fresh in the Kitchen

December 01, 2004

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 1, 2004--Consumers looking to freshen up their kitchens will appreciate the many benefits of the GE ClimateKeeper2(TM) Refrigeration Technology. Known for keeping food garden fresh longer, this refrigeration system also wins points with consumers for its style and convenience.

Over 40 percent of consumers we recently surveyed said they would purchase a new refrigerator if it would make their foods last longer, according to Robert Rogers, Marketing Manager of Refrigeration, GE Consumer & Industrial.

GE's ClimateKeeper2 technology features two separate cooling systems - one for the freezer and one for the fresh food. An independent cooling system for the fresh food section allows humidity levels to increase substantially, helping keep food garden fresh longer.

In addition, because air is no longer circulated between the fresh food and freezer compartments, there is no odor transfer between compartments. No longer can ice trap the taste of foods being stored in the refrigerator. With ClimateKeeper2 technology, the freezer has its own cooling system and does not require defrosting as frequently.

Combined with GE's exclusive FrostGuard(TM) which uses adaptive defrost technology to defrost the freezer only when necessary, the risk of freezer burn is reduced. This design also saves energy. In fact, all ClimateKeeper2 refrigerators meet the 2004 Energy Star standards.

Beauty and brains Wrapped in dazzling stainless steel, the CustomStyle(TM) Stainless Steel Wrapped model offers the benefits of a built-in refrigeratoralong with an attractive, all-over stainless finish that looks beautiful even when it isn't surrounded by cabinets. Profile stainless sculptured handles have appealing lines to complement the doors' gentle contours.

The ClimateKeeper2 technology is available within select GE Profile Arctica models. These refrigerators include all of the traditional features of the Arctica refrigerators, including CustomCool(TM) express settings that let you chill wines in minutes (instead of hours), thaw meats in hours (rather than days), and keeps specific foods at specific temperatures. Also, a TurboCool(TM) setting quickly cools the refrigerator after frequent door openings or when hot items are placed inside.

ClimateKeeper2 also allows the refrigerator to run quietly... so quiet that purchasers are given a 30-day money-back guarantee that the ClimateKeeper2 will be the quietest refrigerator they ever owned!

The GE Profile Arctica with ClimateKeeper2 technology (model# PSH23PSRSV) is available in stainless, white, bisque and black. The refrigerator is offered in a 23 cu ft. CustomStyle configuration with a suggested retail price range of $2599 to $3099.
