FLORENCE, ITALY - June 6, 2006 :- GE's Oil & Gas business will supply two gas turbine-driven turbocompressor units to Enagas, the operator of Spain's gas transportation system, for a new pipeline compression station at Navarra in northern Spain.
The new station will help to increase the flow of the Lacq-Calahorra pipeline and its interconnection with the Ebro axis. The pipeline, which carries natural gas from France to Spain, crosses the French border near the Spanish village of Larrau.
Each of the two GE turbocompressor packages will include a PGT 20 gas turbine with a dry low emission system and a BCL604/N compressor. GE also is responsible for erection, commissioning and spare parts.
The LM2000 gas generators for the turbocompression packages will be manufactured at GE's facilities in Cincinnati in the United States, while the remainder of the equipment for the project will be supplied from GE Oil & Gas facilities in Florence, Italy. Commercial operation of the new station is expected to begin by the end of 2007.
Enagas, based in Madrid, will own and operate the new compression station, while Tecnicas Reunidas Group/Initec Plantas Industriales is the engineering company for the project. GE Oil & Gas previously has supplied turbocompressor packages to Enagas for two other pipeline stations in Cordoba and Banyeres. Enagas owns gas pipeline and transportation networks, regasification plants and gas storage facilities across Spain.
