Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, March 28, 2014 -- Empowering women will be the main topic of focus at the upcoming BMW Malaysian Open 2014 with the 'Women @ Work' event presented by General Electric (GE).
A speaking program focused on highlighting the increasingly important role women are playing across every tenet of modern day society, the 'Women @ Work' presented by GE event will feature speakers that include sports personalities Venus Williams and Datuk Nicol David; corporate leaders Datuk Yvonne Chia and Tan Sri Dr Jemilah Mahmood as well as the Malaysian Minister of Youth and Sports, YB En Khairy Jamaluddin
The event aims to bring the government and private sectors together on an on-going dialogue on the importance of programs and events that empower women here. It also explores the role of sports in developing stronger and more capable women and the creation of a community that supports this goal on an on-going basis.
The by invitation only event which will be held on Thursday, 17th April 2014 at the VIP Marquee at the BMW Malaysian Open 2014 is supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Malaysia; Ricoh Malaysia and Beverly Wilshire Medical Centre.
Announcing the 'Women @ Work' presented by GE event, YB En Khairy Jamaluddin, Minister of Youth and Sports said, "This event will allow participants to get up close and personal with some of the most accomplished women in Malaysia. The speakers are women who have demonstrated tremendous strength, purpose, determination, passion and ability in their respective fields and we're extremely pleased to see them given due recognition." He added that the speakers are exemplary leaders whom both women and men can look up to and aspire to emulate.

Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia (LTAM)
The Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia (LTAM) is a non-profit organization affiliated with the International Tennis Federation and all State Affiliates and Angkatan Tentera Malaysia are members of LTAM. The members determine the direction of LTAM and every two years there will be election of Office Bearers that form the Main Committee.
The LTAM's main objectives are to facilitate and increase participation in, development of and raise the standard of Malaysian tennis comparable with world class.
