PLAINVILLE, Conn. --- March 14, 2012 --- GE Energy's (NYSE: GE) Industrial Solutions business continues to lead the electrical industry in developing and manufacturing innovative products and equipment. The company was recently recognized for its advanced technologies by Electrical Construction & Maintenance's (EC&M) magazine and awarded Product of the Year in the categories of Power Distribution Equipment (Electric Vehicle Chargers) and Power Distribution Equipment (Switches & Switchgear).
EC&M's prestigious awards program showcases the most innovative products of the past year and recognizes the talent and commitment of the people who develop them. Winners will be featured on the EC&M website in addition to receiving special design treatment in the print tabloid showcase, scheduled to mail with the March issue of EC&M and April issue of Electrical Wholesaling.
Category winners were selected by a panel of 10 judges, composed of electrical professionals who represent the design/engineering, contracting and facilities/maintenance industries. The panel was selected by the EC&M editorial staff from a pool of the magazine's readers. These judges reviewed and voted on 129 entries in 31 categories to determine Platinum, Gold and Silver winners in each of the 31 categories.
"GE is committed to providing innovative products for the electrical industry," said Sergio Corbo, chief marketing officer of GE Energy's Industrial Solutions business. "Easy-to-install, safe and reliable, our WattStation Wall Mount and EverGold Solar Disconnects are the kind of products users have come to expect from GE."
WattStation Wall Mount
GE's WattStation Wall Mount provides users with significant improvements to traditional electric vehicle (EV) charging options. It delivers a full-cycle charge to a 24 kWh battery in only four to eight hours in comparison to the 12 to 18 hours it would require to provide the same level of charge if the EV was plugged into a standard electrical outlet. Additionally, the WattStation Wall Mount is compatible for both indoor and outdoor installations. It is NEMA 3R rated to resist rain, sleet and even ice. The GE WattStation Wall Mount can be installed in new or existing construction and can either be hardwired for more permanent installations or plugged into a NEMA 6-50 receptacle for simple removal.
In addition to providing ease of installation and versatility in design, the sleek, weather-resistant GE WattStation Wall Mount meets UL and fire safety standards and conserves energy by allowing users to select zero energy consumption when the charger is not in use. With ground fault protection and clearly labeled LED charging and fault status indicators, consumers have a support system that provides added safety and ease of use.
