CNPC and GE Launch New Talent Education Program for Oil & Gas Professionals in China

Beijing, China, Sep. 26, 2014 - China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and the GE Oil & Gas University (OGU) announce the official launch of the CNPC-OGU Talent Education program, which commenced today at the Beijing Petroleum Managers Training Institute (BPMTI) with a class of 24 talented young professionals from CNPC. The program offers a 5-week leadership and skills-based training course, designed , to accelerate the development of a new generation of talent in China’s oil & gas industry. The program is the first local program run by GE Oil & Gas University (OGU) in China, and an extension of GE’s “In China, For China” strategy.

With increasing influence in the global oil & gas industry, CNPC has a pressing need for interdisciplinary talents with global vision, hence the partnership launched today. Since its inception in 2005, the GE Oil & Gas University has trained over 530 graduates from close to 100 companies globally. Its partnership with CNPC will bring the most advanced market insight, technical knowledge and leadership skills to China’s leading young oil & gas talents. To develop high-level interdisciplinary talents with industry leading skills, knowledge and hands-on experience for CNPC, the course will cover developing trends in the Chinese oil & gas industry, skills in LNG, development of unconventional gas, production of oil & gas products, energy industry outlook, and macro-economic models, as well as leadership and management skills.

Boasting a decade-long cooperation with renowned organizations such as the French Petroleum Institute (IFP), the GE Oil & Gas University guarantees those selected to participate in the program a unique learning experience and a valuable springboard for professional growth

The talent development program announced today is a further extension of the strategic partnership framework signed by GE Oil & Gas and CNPC, which involves collaboration in technical innovations, global market development, simplification and management of the procurement process and the sharing of industry experience..
