Catch the GE Lighting Revolution for Olympics 2012 at ARCHIDEX KL

GE Lighting, a global leader in lighting technology continues to elevate industry standards and promote the use of energy-efficient light sources worldwide through its involvement in the 2012 Olympics. Its full suite of lighting solutions that provide state-of-the-art technology, ranging from LED to specialty products will be showcased at ARCHIDEX 2012, an annual award-winning platform held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, 4 July 2012 -- A showcase of GE's lighting of the Tower Bridge in London for the 2012 Olympics will be one of GE's highlights at the 13th International Architecture, Interior Design and Building Exhibition (Archidex) held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from 4 to 7 July 2012. GE Lighting is an industry leader providing innovative lighting solutions, having lit up key landmarks around the world over the years. The Archidex will see GE Lighting showcase its full range of products and connect with industry players as it works to support Malaysia's growth through establishing partnerships in the domestic market.

GE Lighting's full range of indoor and outdoor lighting solutions for hotels, retail spaces, offices, commercial signs, architecture and roadways will be on display, including its energy-efficient and cost-saving products, keeping with the exhibition's focus on green and sustainable design this year.

GE Lighting Features Advanced Energy Efficient Lighting Products at ARCHIDEX 2012

Some of the lighting solutions on display at ARCHIDEX include the new and improved Tetra MAX LED systems LED signage lighting, ConstantColorâ„¢, known as the lighting of choice in the retail sector, and LED Batten, an eco-friendly lighting solution indoor lighting, indoor sign-box and cove lighting.

Through partnerships developed with local companies here in Malaysia, some of the solutions displayed at ARCHIDEX are already used locally to raise standards in green and energy efficient building and design. GE Lighting currently lights up Mid Valley Megamall's car park with its T5 LFL Indoor Lighting, reducing 40% of energy used. It has also installed HID Floodlights at the INSPEN Stadium creating a football stadium that can achieve 1000LUX. More recently, GE Lighting has worked with Tune Hotels, with Tune Hotels Ipoh the company's pilot project. The Tetra miniMAX outdoor lighting solution was used for the hotel's signage and its LED Baton was used as ceiling lights, saving Tune Hotels Ipoh 42% of energy used. A property developer here has also chosen to use GE Lighting's R150, R250 & Tetra miniMAX in its new development, D'Island Residence, benefitting from low maintenance costs as well as energy-savings.

GE Lighting solutions incorporate state-of-the-art technology ranging from LED to specialty products, and are guided by global best practices and standards. The company has a plethora of initiatives around the globe including a recently refitted lighting plant in Bucyrus, Ohio, which, following an investment of USD$60 million now serves as GE Lighting's global center of excellence for manufacturing high-efficiency, long-life linear fluorescent light bulbs that help conserve energy and reduce energy costs. The business has also contributed to the Olympics 2012, lighting up London's Tower Bridge.

As part of the Olympic celebrations, GE Lighting has illuminated the 800-foot long bridge in London using its new energy efficient LED technology and cabling system. The task required more than 2 km of GE's Tetra Contour architectural LED lighting to be installed on the stone and metal work on the bridge, which was supplied in 2.44 m lengths, taking the form of a flexible LED light engine molded on site to fit the shape of the landmarks unique architectural features. GE Lighting's 90W LED Floodlights have also been installed on Tower Bridge together with other lamps and fixtures to replace the 25 year old legacy system. The new lighting will help cut the amount of energy required to light the landmark by 40 percent.
