Boston College Chooses GE Money to Provide Credit Card Product to University Constituents

October 18, 2006

University's Proceeds to Help Fund Alumni Legacy Scholarship Program.

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Boston College, one of the nation's leading institutions of higher learning, has selected GE Money, the consumer lending unit of General Electric Company (NYSE:GE), to provide an affinity credit card product to the university's alumni, graduate students, graduating seniors, faculty and staff.

"GE is proud to partner with this great university to provide enhanced credit card services and an exclusive rewards program," said Scott Young, senior vice president of GE Money's Personal Finance business. "Boston College is committed to using this program as a vehicle for sharing important benefits and savings with its extended family." The deal is part of GE Money's strategy to expand its affinity card program.

Under the terms of the agreement, which is scheduled to launch November 1, GE will provide a MasterCard product featuring the Boston College brand. Cardholders will earn Boston College Rewards -- one point for every dollar spent. Points may be redeemed for merchandise, travel or cash, as well as unique and exciting Boston College experiences. These exceptional university rewards options will include tickets to major university sporting events, golf outings with coaches, or even transportation on the team plane to a big away game. Cardholders also receive 10 percent off select merchandise at campus bookstores.

Additionally, Boston College will use its revenue to fund its Alumni Legacy Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance to the children of alumni who wish to attend Boston College.

"This partnership is a real win/win situation," said John A. Feudo, associate vice president for Alumni Relations at Boston College "Members of the BC family who use this card not only help future generations of BC students through the program's support of the Alumni Legacy Scholarship Fund, but our alumni and friends will benefit directly through the outstanding rewards program we have to offer."
