BIOGRAPHY

Larry is Managing Director, GE Licensing. He is based out of Niskayuna, NY, at GE’s Global Research Center, as the first hire into a new Niskayuna office for Licensing. Larry is responsible for monetizing a wide range of complex IP assets & product lines, pulling from across GE’s businesses. Previously, Larry led a team in IP program development, developing commercial opportunities across the full spectrum of GE’s technology portfolio. Earlier, he built the electrical systems licensing platform, driving end-to-end patent licensing programs, including investment, acquisition, patent analysis, assertions and partnership negotiations. He is passionate about developing a strong IP strategy with GE’s businesses to maximize return on GE’s capital and as a critical element of successful business plans – utilizing the broadest possible interpretation of IP (patents, know-how, product lines, processes, data and other intangible assets) and with flexible business models.

Larry’s career began at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), developing advanced electro-optical components for mil-aero applications. Subsequently, he was an engineering executive at fiber optic networking start-up Ciena, leading the qualification & deployment of next generation electro-optic components into advanced communication systems. Larry later was an executive at Intel, leading technology development and product management for communication modules.

Larry received a B.S. (Physics) summa cum laude from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and M.S. & Ph.D. degrees (Electrical Engineering) from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Larry is married with 1 child in college; he spends as much time outside as possible – running, hiking, winter sports, and with extended family at the Jersey Shore.
