Air France-KLM has finalized the purchase of 200 fuel-efficient CFM International LEAP 1-A engines to power its new fleet of Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft. Air France-KLM has been a long-standing CFM customer and selected the LEAP engine as part of a strategy to renew and expand its fleet.

The Jet2 Set: Efficient LEAP Engines Will Help U.K. Airline Expand Its Fleet

The U.K.-based airline Jet2 selected CFM International’s LEAP-1A engines to power its new fleet of up to 75 Airbus A321neo aircraft. The order includes spare engines and a long-term services support agreement. Jet2 plc has been a CFM customer since 2002 and has selected the LEAP engine as part of its fleet renewal strategy.

India’s IndiGo airline, one of the world’s fastest-growing low-cost carriers, said on Friday it will use fuel-efficient LEAP-1A engines from CFM International to power its fleet of 310 new Airbus A320neo, A321neo and A321XLR aircraft. The agreement, one of the largest in CFM’s history, includes 620 new installed engines and associated spare engines, as well as a multi-year service agreement. “This is a pivotal milestone that reflects our long-standing commitment to rapidly strengthen our network both domestically and internationally,” said IndiGo CEO Ronojoy Dutta.

On Monday afternoon at the Paris Air Show, jet engine maker CFM International said it signed the largest single jet engine order in history to supply fast-growing Indian carrier IndiGo with its LEAP-1A engines and services — a deal valued at more than $20 billion at list price.
