New technology for Nigeria's rail system

Erie, Pennsylvania, USA and Lagos, Nigeria (February 5, 2010) The Nigerian Ministry of Transport and GE Transportation announced today that the Nigerian Railway Corporation has taken delivery of the first five C25 diesel locomotives -- introducing new technology to Nigeria's rail system.  The locomotives will be used for both freight and passenger service.  The remaining 20 locomotives will be delivered in the second half of 2010.

GE Transportation Introduces Connection Family of Positive Train Control Products at Rail Exhibition

Nashville, Tenn. (May 19, 2009) -- GE Transportation, a unit of the General Electric Company, announced today that it has launched the Connection line of Positive Train Control (PTC) compliant products for rail networks operating in the United States.

With the signing of the Rail Safety Improvement Act by President George W. Bush in October 2008, the railroad industry will need to be PTC-compliant throughout the United States by 2015. According to the Act, there are four events that railroads must prevent with a PTC system:

GE & City Of Edmonton To Install New Technology For Light Rail Extension

EDMONTON, CANADA (May 23, 2007) -- General Electric Corporation (NYSE: GE) and the City of Edmonton today announced next generation crossing and signalling technology will be installed as part of Edmonton's South Light Rail Transit (LRT) Extension, marking the first time this technology will be applied in Canada. The technology will be on display in Calgary as part of the Railway Systems Suppliers show at the TELUS Convention Centre on May 23 and 24.
