Senior Managing Director
Michael is Senior Managing Director of Investing. Based in Menlo Park, CA, he joined GE in 2012.
Michael leads a team that invests in digital infrastructure and enterprise productivity applications.
His focus is on the digital transformation of industries and servitization of products. Current investment interests include Industrial IoT, edge computing, digital twin, big data, AL/ML/machine intelligence, and cyber security.
Previously, he worked at LG Electronics where, he led venture capital and innovation activities. Prior to that, he led the venture capital groups at Orange, 3Com, and IBM.
Earlier in his career, Michael co-founded an award-winning mobile internet startup that was acquired by Earthlink. His investment career started at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and later continued at Greylock Partners. Early investments include Juniper Networks, Extreme Networks, Epigram, MacroMind, Trilogy and Netezza. He began his career at Xerox Palo Alto Research Laboratory.
He holds an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Stanford University.
Michael is a board observer of Foghorn, DataTorrent, Mocana, Maana, Element Analytics, ThetaRay, and Ayasdi.
He is an avid road cyclist.
