Industrial X-Ray Inspection Lab

The industrial X-ray inspection lab hosts several custom-built DR and CT imaging systems. The lab supports projects in the aerospace, power, oil & gas, transportation, and advanced manufacturing industries. The specific imaging systems include:

  • A 450-kVp CT system with a BHGE Titan 450 X-ray tube (focal spot size 2mm, 2.5kW) and a 41 cm x 41 cm GE Healthcare flat-panel detector (200um pixel pitch) (Figure 1)
  • A 450-kVp CT system with a BHGE Titan 450 X-ray tube (focal spot size 1mm, 1.5kW) and a 41 cm x 41 cm GE Healthcare flat-panel detector (200um pixel pitch) (Figure 2)
  • A 150-kVp DR system with 25um resolution based on a Hamamatsu microfocus tube and a 20 cm x 20 cm real-time detector (DXR250RT, 200um pixel pitch)
  • A BHGE nano-focus X-ray tube

In addition, the industrial X-ray inspection team has access to:

  • A GEIT Vtomex micro-CT scanner with 100um spatial resolution based on a micro-focus tube (240 kVp, 320 W) and a 41 cm x 41 cm detector (100 um pitch)
  • A 9-MeV CT system capable of imaging very large industrial parts
