Vinay Jammu is Technology Director, Software and Analytics at GE Research which is located at John F Welch Technology Center, Bangalore. He is responsible for labs located in Bangalore and Schenectady, NY, that are focused on driving domain-based analytics and software to differentiate GE’s Industrial Internet Solutions. Vinay obtained his doctoral degree from University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1996 in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for machine diagnosis. After a brief stint at Mechanical Technology Inc, NY, he joined GE Global Research, Schenectady, NY in 1997 as Diagnostics Engineer where he focused on developing predictive analytics for failure and life prediction of industrial assets. Vinay relocated to Bangalore in 2002 and held multiple roles as Lab Manager and Technology Leader in Aero-Thermal and Mechanical Systems organization at GE Research.
The past 22 years at GE Research, Vinay focused on bringing physics and artificial intelligence modeling methods together for predictive analytics in areas of Energy, Healthcare and Transportation sectors. He has been involved in development of GE's Remote Monitoring Centers across all of its businesses including for GE Transportation (now Wabtec) that monitors 20,000+ locomotive globally, GE Power Remote Monitoring Center, which manages 725+ power plants world wide, GE Aviation Monitoring and Diagnostics center that monitors 25000 jet engines, GE Renewables Remote Operations center that monitors nearly 20,000 wind turbines and GE Healthcare Remote Diagnostics Center that monitors nearly 100,000 ultrasound, MR and CT machines worldwide. His expertise in Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) technologies that includes advanced sensors, instrumentation, model-based and data-based analytics methods, real-time lifing, artificial intelligence methods, big data and software systems have been utilized at all these monitoring and diagnostics centers over the past couple of decades.
Vinay is a certified master black belt, has 26 Granted Patents, 38 patent applications, and 60+ internal and external publications.
