Mark Doherty

PhD, Inorganic Chemistry (University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill) BS, Chemistry & Biology (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute)

Mark is a Lead Scientist in the Functional Materials group at GE Research.

In 2007 Mark earned a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he studied mechanistic aspects of novel electrophilic late metal catalysts for olefin polymerization, oligomerization, and hydrosilylation. He then joined the Artificial Photosynthesis group at Brookhaven National Laboratory as a post-doctoral researcher developing novel supercritical CO2 soluble photocatalysts for CO2 reduction and novel electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution. Mark joined GE Research in 2010 and since then has worked on a variety of business and externally funded programs including organometallic fuel cells, post combustion CO2 capture, CO2 enhanced oil recovery, aviation services, lighting, emissions aftertreatment catalysis, electroplating, and wearable sensors.
