Honggang has a diverse work experience in GE Research (Niksayuna), GE Fuel Cells (Startup in Malta) and GE Research (Shanghai). He is a certified Project Management Professional with track records of $20M+ funding management by leading large multi-disciplinary teams. With more than ten years' work experience in renewable and chemical industry, he has authored 20+ peer reviewed publications and 40+ filed patents.
He developed the 1st control system for GE proprietary fuel cell system and scaled up to 50KW and 1MW demo. During this period, he led the fuel cell digital twin and also system-control co-design, effectively cutting cost in technology validation and accelerating the pace for system scale up. He designed and implemented the 1st Real-Time Optimization package using neural network ensemble for steam cracker in Sinopec which has been widely deployed afterwards.
He is currently leading two DOE funded projects in Power System model validation and data analytics. As an IEEE senior member, he serves as the founding chair of IEEE Control System Society and the chair of IEEE Computational Intelligence Society in Schenectady Section.
