Alex Duncan is an Edison Engineer with the Robotics team at GE Research, solving system-level design challenges related to robotic service platforms. Alex is passionate about creating innovative mechanical solutions that reduce the complexity that comes with wiring and controlling robots.
Most recently Alex has been developing a mobile robotic system that will inspect and rehabilitate underground pipelines from the inside. These crawlers are intended to carry sensor and repair payloads long distances through complex pipe networks. This is similar to the research Alex performed in grad school, working with well-known roboticist William “Red” Whittaker.
Alex holds multiple technical degrees and is currently pursuing an MBA through Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. His focus is strategic management and corporate entrepreneurship.
Alex lives in Niskayuna, NY and enjoys spending his summers camping on the upstate NY lakes and coaching boys volleyball in the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake school district.
