GE Research Material Characterization Lab Receives ISO 17025:2017 Accreditation

NISKAYUNA, NY – February 10, 2020 - The GE Research Material Characterization Lab (GEMC Lab), part of GE Research, today announced that the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA), has approved our Niskayuna, NY laboratory for ISO 17025:2017 accreditation. 

ISO accreditation signifies that the GEMC Lab has successfully completed the ISO audit process, demonstrating a high standard of excellence in testing and compliance with the A2LA requirements for a quality laboratory management system.  In addition, it underscores the GEMC Lab’s focus on continual analysis and management process improvement.

The GE Research Material Characterization lab offers a wide range of advanced analytical problem solving and testing capabilities for a variety of material sets for our internal research programs, GE Businesses, government and commercial customers.

 “We made a strategic decision to seek ISO 17025 accreditation for our Lab’s Material Characterization activities to ensure that we continue to provide a high standard of excellence in testing for our research programs and GE Business product needs as well as for our commercial and government customers,” according to Dr. Amy Linsebigler, the Lab’s Commercial Director and Chief Scientist.

 “Technical depth and providing high quality data are in our DNA. The addition of a quality management system in the Materials Characterization lab was the next step in our continuous journey to achieve excellence.”  said Denise Anderson, the Technology Materials Characterization Manager.

The ISO accreditation covers the Lab’s chemical testing area and its management and performance of analytical testing, including: contamination analysis, surface analysis and bulk compositional analysis on: metals, alloys, plastics, polymers, glasses, powders, nanomaterials, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, packaging material, biomedical materials and products, thin film products, optical components, photovoltaic materials, biological materials, composites, and other organic and inorganic materials that are defined by its A2LA Scope of Accreditation (5456.01 valid to January 31, 2022).
