Building On Innovation With GE At CEPSI 2018

A spark of inspiration has been the starting point for many new inventions. Turning sparks of inspiration into products such as high-efficiency turbines, digital solutions delivering substantial data-driven savings, and new equipment tackling major industrial challenges, is something that GE has been doing for more than 100 years.

New energy sector innovations on the horizon were showcased at the recent CEPSI 2018 event and the GE Reports team had the opportunity to talk with some of the engineers, and developers, behind these.

 

Alistair Wells – Asia Regional General Manager – Grid Software Solutions at GE Power

What you need to know – GE’s combination of data insight and innovation can be a catalyst for solutions across your entire transmission network.

While High-Voltage and Medium-Voltage networks have increasingly seen adoptions of advanced distribution management systems, using comprehensive data insight to improve performance, Low-Voltage networks have widely remained untouched. In his paper, Collaborative Control Innovations In LV Network Management, GE’s Alistair Wells highlights the emergence of innovation in the Low-Voltage network space, and how data analytics is pivotal to the solution from GE.

GE has been a pioneer in the development of two-stage turbocharging gas engines, with the first units deployed in 2010. Since then over 350 units have been delivered worldwide, providing 4.5-10 MW of rapidly deployed distributed power to help quickly meet the energy needs of customers.
