Around the Philippines, GE is helping to build sustainable communities and inspiring the innovators of the future.
GE is the world’s leading producer of large and small engines for commercial, military, business and general aircraft, as well as avionics, electric power and mechanical systems. GE jet engines such as GE90-100, CFM56-5B and CFM56-5C are installed on aircrafts owned and operated by Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific Air, and Air Asia among other airlines operating at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and other airports located across the archipelago. As of 2014, about 180 GE engines are installed in 81 aircrafts and this means one aircraft equipped with GE technology takes off in every 2 minutes, transporting about 20 million passengers within and outside the Philippines.
GE also helps move the Philippine’s railway industry. In 2014, GE Transportation marked a milestone deal with the Philippine National Railway as it upgrades 3 of its 26 diesel engine locomotives since its acquisition in 1992.
