Global Nuclear Fuel Advanced Fuel Assemblies to be Evaluated at Oak Ridge National Laboratory

WILMINGTON, North Carolina—December 3, 2020—Global Nuclear Fuel (GNF) today announced that lead test assemblies of its Accident Tolerant Fuel (ATF) solutions have been delivered to the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) for examination after commercial operation. The unfueled IronClad lead test rods and fueled ARMOR lead test rods, the first to be installed in a commercial reactor, successfully completed a 24-month fuel cycle at the Edwin I.

GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor Achieves U.S. Licensing Milestone

WILMINGTON, North Carolina—December 1, 2020—GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) today announced that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has issued a Final Safety Evaluation Report for the first of several licensing topical reports (LTRs) that have been submitted for the BWRX-300 small modular reactor (SMR). The LTR, which was submitted to the NRC in December 2019, forms the basis for the dramatic simplification of the BWRX-300.
