UltraScan™ Duo Pipeline Inspection Tool Uses Sensors Developed by GE Healthcare

CALGARY, Alberta--06 April 2009-- GE Oil & Gas' PII Pipeline Solutions group is completing its largest pipeline inspection project by helping TransCanada evaluate the condition of an 864-kilometer (537 mile) portion of a natural gas pipeline in Canada. This part of the pipeline, which covers a span equivalent to the distance between Paris and Berlin, needed to be inspected prior to being converted to carry crude oil as part of the Keystone Oil Pipeline.

GE에너지는 이와 관련, 현지의 그랜드 리지 에너지 센터(Grand Ridge Energy Center)의 확장을 위해 1.5 메가와트급 풍력터빈 74대를 공급한다고 밝혔다. 센터가 완공될 경우 미국의 전체 풍력 에너지 발전 용량은 110 메가와트 이상 올라간다. 이는 미국내 3만 가구에 청정에너지를 공급할 수 있는 양이다.

2009년 4월 2일(미국동부시간), 미국 코네티컷주 페어필드, 캘리포니아주 산타 클라라 -- GE와 인텔코퍼레이션(이하 인텔)은 오늘 홈헬스기술(home-based health technology)의 개발 및 사업 추진에 관한 제휴를 맺었다고 발표했다. 홈헬스기술은 독거노인 및 만성질환자들이 가정 혹은 원하는 곳에서 안락하게 건강을 관리할 수 있도록 지원하는 기술을 말한다.

GE헬스케어는 헬스케어전문가들이 사용하는 환자 관리 도구인 인텔 헬스가이드(IntelÒ Health Guide) 제품을 판매 및 출시하게 된다. 만성질환자와 노령인구의 급격한 증가로 인해 환자관리 영역이 병원에서 가정으로 확대되고 있으며 GE헬스케어와 인텔은 이러한 긴급한 문제 해결에 기여하고 있다. 텔레헬스(Telehealth) 및 홈헬스 모니터링 시장은 2009년 30억불에서 2012년 77억불[1] 규모로 성장할 것으로 예측된다.

GE의 제프 이멜트 이사회 회장 겸 최고경영자와 인텔의 폴 오텔리니 최고경영자는 오늘 홈헬스기술의 연구 및 제품 개발에 앞으로 5년동안 2억5천만불을 투자하는 제휴를 발표했다.

GEとインテル・コーポレーションは本日、高齢者の自立した生活、ならびに慢性疾患患者の自宅や任意の場所での疾患管理を支援する在宅医療のテクノロジーの開発および販売において提携することを発表しました。

この提携に伴い、GEのヘルスケア事業部門であるGEヘルスケアは今後、慢性疾患患者のケアを担当する医療従事者向けのケアマネジメントツール「Intel® Health Guide」を販売します。慢性疾患を抱える患者や高齢者が飛躍的に増加し、病院を離れた在宅ケアに対するニーズが高まりを見せる中、GEヘルスケアとインテルはこの喫緊の課題克服に向けて連携支援します。なお、2009年の遠隔ヘルスケア（telehealth）および在宅ヘルスモニタリングの推定市場規模は30億ドルですが、2012年までに77億ドルに拡大すると予測されています [1]。
