GEと富士電機ホールディングス（以下、富士電機）は、本日、国内の電力分野、その他の顧客向けメーターを設計・製造・販売する合弁会社設立をめざす覚書を締結しました。
当該合弁会社の具体的内容は今後協議の上決定されますが、出資比率は富士電機が過半数を占めることを見込んでいます。この協業により、エネルギー・電気産業のリーディングカンパニーである2社の強み、すなわち、両社の技術力及び専門知識と、GEの豊富な経験と世界的な事業展開力、富士電機の日本におけるメーターの製造、販売網を活用し、高品質且つコスト競争力のあるメーターを国内に供給していきます。
低炭素社会の実現に向けエネルギー効率の必要性が高まる中、電気使用を把握、管理、最適化するためのスマートグリッド戦略において、スマートメーターは重要な役割を果たします。合弁会社は日本でのスマートメーターの普及に貢献することをめざしています。
