As the COVID-19 virus makes its way around the world, its impact on businesses and employees is multi-fold. While local governments and policymakers implement measures across countries around the world to contain the virus and mitigate its effects, keeping spirits high and remaining positive is even more vital than ever before.
When I arrived in Singapore to lead GE Steam Power’s Asia Region, I was aware of some of the well-trodden discussions on the challenges that this region faces: “Asia will continue to lag behind Europe and the US in embracing newer forms of energy, especially clean energy”; “policy bottlenecks will make energy transition painfully slow and dependence on oil and gas inevitable.”
Globalization has created an era of growth and interconnectedness among economies that drives progress around the world in areas such as transportation, healthcare and communications. As the world has grown “smaller,” new partnerships have been formed, new wealth was created, and new opportunities emerged for both developed and developing nations.
