2016年3月24日，波士顿 - 通用电气（GE）今日宣布, 公司新总部将落户波士顿海港区尼科街（Necco Street）。GE新总部的具体地址为尼科街5-6号，位于宝洁公司44英亩（约17.8万平方米）南波士顿园区外围，占地约2.5英亩（约1万平方米），GE日前已与宝洁公司达成物业收购协议。 新总部会保留一部分现有建筑，同时也会新建部分设施。此次物业收购包含了两幢计划进行翻新的历史建筑，以及附近的一个停车场，GE将在此停车场之上建造新的大楼。2016年夏天起，GE员工将会陆续搬入波士顿法恩斯沃思街（Farnsworth Street）上的一处临时办公场所，整个搬迁过程将逐步进行，并于 2018 年全面完成。 “南波士顿是一个重要的创新发展中心，能够加入这个生机勃勃、创意无限的生态系统，和其它企业一起引领未来，GE感到非常兴奋，”GE公司副总裁Ann Klee表示，“我们位于核心区域的新总部为促进海港区及其周边社区发展提供绝佳机会。我们期待早日在南波士顿安家。”
