In Nemba, on the border between Rwanda and Burundi, is a one-stop border post backed by both governments and funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB).

This week’s U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit — the largest-ever meeting of American and African leaders — brings no fewer than 50 national leaders to Washington. Perhaps a couple of them will take time for injera, tibs and coffee at one of DC’s 67 Ethiopian restaurants. John Dineen: A Healthier Africa is Emerging

John Dineen GE
August 05, 2014
Delivering high-quality healthcare in Africa is one of the most pressing challenges facing the continent today. Across many parts of Africa, access to appropriate healthcare facilities (hospitals and clinics) and qualified healthcare expertise (doctors, nurses and skilled healthcare workers) is limited.

Growth prospects for the continent remain strong. According to the International Monetary Fund, growth in Africa will accelerate to 5.5 percent in 2014 from 4.9 percent in 2013. Continued — and lasting — growth depends on sustained investment and strategic development.

Don’t Chase Unicorns

Greg Satell
July 30, 2014
The unicorn is perhaps unique among myths in that the creature doesn’t appear in the mythology of any culture. The ancient Greeks, for all of their centaurs, hydras and medusas, never had any stories of unicorns, they simply believed that some existed somewhere.
