August 18, 2003 -- EVENDALE, Ohio - The GE Rolls-Royce Fighter Engine Team has successfully accomplished the Phase III Critical Design Review (CDR) of its F136 propulsion systems for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF). The JSF Joint Program Office (JPO) determined that the GE Rolls-Royce team met all the review objectives, clearing the way for the first full engine tests in July 2004.
The GE Rolls-Royce Fighter Engine Team comprises: GE Aircraft Engines (GEAE) in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA; Rolls-Royce plc in Bristol, UK and Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.

August 13, 2003 -- EVENDALE, Ohio -- China Airlines, the leading carrier of Taiwan, selected GE Aircraft Engines to power 22 wide-body passenger and cargo aircraft in an engine order valued at more than $600 million.
Taipei-based China Airlines ordered GE's CF6 engine to power 12 Airbus A330-300s, six Boeing 747-400s, and four Boeing 747-400 freighter aircraft.

August 12, 2003 -- EVENDALE, Ohio-The Japan Defense Agency (JDA) selected GE Aircraft Engines' (GEAE) CF6-80C2 engine for its C-X program, Japan's next-generation cargo military aircraft.
The JDA will take delivery of the first engine in 2006. The potential value of the engine contract for GEAE is valued at approximately $1 billion over the estimated 30-year life of the program.
The C-X, currently in development, will replace the C-1 cargo aircraft. The JDA will begin operating the C-X in 2011.
