December 9, 2005 -- EVENDALE, Ohio - TAM Brazilian Airlines has become CFM International's newest customer, selecting the CFM56-5B engine to power 25 new Airbus A320 family aircraft. The airline has also taken options on up to 20 additional aircraft.
CFM56 engines are a product of CFM International (CFM), a 50/50 joint company between Snecma and General Electric Company. More than 15,500 CFM56 engines have been delivered to date to 430 operators around the globe making CFM the world's leading supplier of commercial aircraft engines.
December 5, 2005 -- EVENDALE, OH - On December 28, 1995, the world's most powerful jet engine--the GE90--on a new Boeing 777 was delivered to China Southern Airlines. December 5, 2005 -- EVENDALE, Ohio - US Airways has reached agreement with General Electric Company to purchase GEnx engines for its new order of 20 Airbus A350 aircraft.
US Airways is scheduled to take delivery of its A350s beginning in 2011. The GEnx engine contract with US Airways is valued at more than $400 million.
"GE has collaborated closely with US Airways as it restructures and invests in new aircraft," said David Romansky, GE's regional sales director. "GE has a long history with the airline and looks forward to supporting this new aircraft fleet."

November 28, 2005 -- EVENDALE, OH - Japan Airlines (JAL) has selected the GEnx engine to power its 30 firm, 20 option Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
The value of the firm engine order is more than $700 million (USD). Engine deliveries begin in 2008.
"The selection completes an extensive two-year technical evaluation by JAL, and we are very honored that the GEnx engine has been chosen," said Tom Brisken, general manager of the GEnx project.

November 21, 2005 -- DUBAI, U.A.E - Comlux, the VIP charter operator based in Zurich; Switzerland, has selected the CFM56-5B engine to power three firm, three option Airbus A318 Elite Corporate Jets. The firm engine order is valued at approximately $36 million at list price.

November 21, 2005 -- Dubai 2005 - The Engine Alliance GP7200 engine, selected to power Emirates' new fleet of Airbus A380s, has completed all the required engine tests for certification by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, opening the way for first flight on the Airbus A380 in 2006.
The Engine Alliance completed all required engine certification tests in November, and FAA certification is anticipated in December.
