Order book growing for China's GE-powered ARJ21 Regional Jet Aircraft

With GE Commercial Aviation Services' (GECAS) Tuesday order for five-firm, 20-option ARJ21 regional jets, Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, LTD (COMAC) has now taken orders for 206 of its new regional jet aircraft, powered by GE Aviation's CF34 engine.

COMAC sees a potential market for 850 ARJ21s over the next 20 years - representing a potential to GE of more than $4 billion in CF34 engine revenues.

GE and NASA To Initiate Wind-Tunnel Testing for Open Rotor Jet Engine Systems

October 24, 2008

EVENDALE -- GE Aviation and NASA are teaming on a wind-tunnel test program to evaluate counterrotating fan-blade systems for "open rotor" jet engine designs that could sharply reduce fuel consumption.
The testing will begin in wind tunnel facilities at NASA's Glenn Research Center in early 2009 and continue into mid-year. This is not a full engine test, but a component rig test to evaluate subscale fan systems using GE's and NASA's advanced computational tools and data acquisition systems.

FlyDubai Places $700 Million Order for CFM56-7B Engines

FARNBOROUGH, England--14 July 2008-- The Dubai government's new low-cost carrier, FlyDubai, has ordered 50 CFM56-7B-powered Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 and 737-900 aircraft. The engine order is valued at nearly $700 million U.S. at list price. The airline will begin taking delivery in 2009 and is scheduled to have all 50 aircraft operating by 2016.

Continental Engines Achieve TRUEngineTM Status
