Sharjah, February 22, 2006 -- Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority (SEWA) has selected GE Energy's gas turbine technology for the Hamriyah Power Station, located in the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
GE will supply four Frame 9E gas turbines for phase one of the simple-cycle, base load power plant, which will add 380 megawatts of capacity to the Sharjah electricity grid. The primary fuel will be natural gas.
Abu Dhabi, UAE, 30 January, 2006: GE Energy will be showcasing its new evolution compressor for frame B/E gas turbines at this year's Power-Gen Middle East taking place in Abu Dhabi. GE recently signed a contract to install its first evolution compressor at Midway Sunset Cogeneration Company's (MSCC) power plant near Taft, California.

Abu Dhabi, UAE, 30 January, 2006: GE Energy will supply a distributed control system (DCS) to NEM bv of Leiden, the Netherlands for the Cairo North 2 power plant, an 800-megawatt, combined-cycle plant operated by the state-owned Cairo Production Company. This will be the first GE DCS installed in Egypt.
One of Biggest Power Generation Projects in Country's History
Dubai, UAE, December 21, 2005: Marking one of the largest power generation agreements in the country's history, Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Power and Steel has selected GE Energy to supply 18 gas turbines, additional equipment and services for five power plants in the Niger Delta area that will add more than 2,000 megawatts to the country's electricity grid.
Expansion of over US$500 million
Doha, QATAR, November 28, 2005: GE Energy recently signed a contract with the Qatar Electricity & Water Company (QEWC) for the expansion of the Ras Abu Fontas B-2 power plant in the State of Qatar. This important venture for over US$500 million, to be developed by a consortium including GE and FISIA Italimpianti., is due for completion in 2007 and will help Qatar support future demands for power and water. The power plant will produce 597 megawatts of power and 30 million gallons of desalinated water per day.
