2015年9月16日，北京 -- 今天，通用电气（GE）公司和中国机械工业集团有限公司（国机集团）签署战略合作谅解备忘录，双方将联手推动非洲地区的清洁能源项目，旨在帮助非洲撒哈拉以南地区实现用电人口翻一番的目标。这次签约不仅标志着GE公司和国机集团两家全球领先企业进一步深化合作，也标志着美中两国经济合作的新思路、新模式。
国机集团是中国机械行业百强之首，也是中国机械工业最大的进出口企业和全球最大的国际工程承包商之一。GE与国机集团的合作有着良好的基础，双方曾经共同为亚洲、非洲和拉丁美洲建设过多个基础设施项目，将GE的燃气轮机、风力发电机等先进设备与国机集团的工程建设和项目管理能力相结合，为遍及全球的清洁能源项目提供了可靠的保证。
本次签约内容包括了肯尼亚Kipeto风电项目，GE公司利用国际融资渠道优势，引荐国机集团参与项目建设，并以此为契机扩大双方在非洲的合作。
根据协议，GE和国机集团将： - 对非洲的清洁能源项目进行联合开发、联合投资和联合融资，以增进双方在能源领域的合作； - 在特定的能源合作项目中，协助对方获得和优化第三方长期融资和/或提供开发资金； - 肯尼亚Kipeto 100MW风电项目将作为双方长期合作的试点工程。
