Fairfield, Conn., May 24, 2007 -- GE today reaffirmed that "green is green," reporting that revenues from its portfolio of energy efficient and environmentally advantageous products and services surged past $12 billion in 2006, up 20% from 2005, while the order backlog rose to $50 billion.
GE (NYSE: GE) will webcast Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt's presentation at the Electrical Products Group's 2007 Annual Spring Conference today, Wednesday, May 23 at 11:30 a.m. ET. New Delhi, May 22, 2007 --- GE today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to sell GE Plastics to Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), a globally respected petrochemicals manufacturer, in a deal valued at $11.6 billion in cash plus assumption of liabilities. The closing of the transaction is subject to customary conditions, including the receipt of regulatory approvals, and is targeted for the third quarter of 2007.

GEは本日、世界最大手の石油化学製品メーカのサウジ基礎産業公社（Saudi Basic Industries Corporation 本社:サウジアラビア王国リヤド以下、SABIC）と、GEプラスチックス事業を116億ドル相当の現金および債務引受けにより売却する正式契約に合意したと発表しました。売却は、規制当局からの認可など、通常の手続きを経て、2007年第3四半期を目途に完了する予定です。
GEのジェフ・イメルト会長兼CEOは次のように述べています。「GEは過去5年間、賢明な事業売却を行い、より高い成長が見込める、高付加価値のテクノロジー関連事業への投資を実行することで、事業ポートフォリオの再編を進めてきました。今回の事業売却は、成長性の高い分野に再投資することで、投資を新たな成長につなげるというGEの戦略を引き続き推進していく上で、重要なステップとなります。この戦略を実行することで、成長を加速し、より高収益を生み出す事業体を構築し、好調な業績を維持することができます。」
