LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM (October 28, 2003) -- The Gunfleet Sands Offshore Wind Plant, a 108-megawatt proposal slated for development off the east coast of England, last week became one of four new offshore wind projects to attain government consent. The projects were approved under the Transport and Works Act of 1992 as part of the U.K.'s ongoing program to significantly increase its supply of wind-generated electricity over the next several years.

BELFORT, FRANCE (October 28, 2003) -- Centre d'Ingenierie Technique de Paris, a unit of France's state-owned electricity company Electricité de France, has selected GE Power Systems to provide a gas turbine-generator for a new power plant at Jarry, Guadeloupe in the French Caribbean.
The Jarry Sud project is being built to increase Guadeloupe's power generation capabilities. Guadeloupe is a French-governed cluster of islands located in the eastern Caribbean Sea, southeast of Puerto Rico.

October 27, 2003 -- EVENDALE, Ohio -- GE Aircraft Engines (GEAE) has formally completed all qualification testing of its higher-thrust F110 fighter engine, the F110-GE-132, for the Lockheed Martin Block 60 F-16E/F aircraft.
The U.S. Air Force (USAF) concurred with GEAE's recommendation that the F110-GE-132 engine has concluded all engine qualification activities, clearing the way for the engine to enter operational service on the Block 60 F-16 aircraft.

ATLANTA, GEORGIA (October 27, 2003) -- GE Hydro has received a contract from Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) to rewind one of two generators at the Middle Fork Powerhouse, a hydro station on the Middle Fork American River in Placer County, California.
GE is supplying new windings for unit 2 at the Middle Fork site, a Toshiba 13.8 kV, 68 MVA hydro generator. GE Hydro rewound unit 1 in 1998. Under a separate contract signed last year, GE Hydro also is replacing the runners for the two Pelton turbines at the powerhouse.
