CFM56-5B Continues to be Engine of Choice for A320 Family

July 19, 2004 -- FARNBOROUGH - The CFM56-5 engine has been chosen to power 55 percent of all Airbus A320 family aircraft for which orders have been announced to date. The engine continues to provide airline customers worldwide with the highest reliability and lowest maintenance costs on this application.
CFM56-5 engines are produced by CFM International, a 50/50 joint company between Snecma Moteurs and General Electric Company.

CFM Receives Order for 31 CFM56-3 Advanced Upgrade Kits, Offering Additional Kit Options for Added Flexibility

July 19, 2004 -- FARNBOROUGH - KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has placed an order for 31 CFM56-3 Advanced Upgrade kits at a value of approximately $35 million. In addition, CFM International (CFM) has launched two other kit options: the Enhanced Performance kit and the Enhanced Durability kit, giving customers more flexibility in managing maintenance costs.
CFM is a 50/50 joint company between Snecma Moteurs and General Electric Company.

CF34-8C1 Logs One Million Flight Hours

July 19, 2004 -- FARNBOROUGH - GE's CF34-8C1 powerplant for the Bombardier CRJ700 has achieved the one-million-flight-hour milestone in just over three years of airline service.
The first CRJ700 was delivered to launch customer Brit Air in January 2001. Today, more than 140 aircraft are in service with 11 customers and nearly 90 CRJ700s are still on order.

July 19, 2004 -- FARNBOROUGH - GE's April delivery of the 13,000th engine of its T700/CT7 turboshaft/turboprop engine family marked yet another milestone in the 25-year history of T700/CT7 service.
The T700 engine and its civil counterpart, the CT7, have amassed more than 50 million flight-hours powering 21 different aircraft models in service throughout the world, and T700-powered aircraft accounted for nearly 70 percent of the U.S. Army's flight-hours in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

GE Forecasts Long-term Growth in the Small Commercial Jet Segment

July 19, 2004 -- FARNBOROUGH - General Electric Company forecasts the number of small commercial jets in service will more than triple in the next 20 years, increasing from 2,000 aircraft in 2004 to more than 7,000 aircraft in 2023.
GE expects its CF34 order book to reach 300 engines this year. Engine deliveries will top 400 this year, marking the third consecutive year of more than 400 engines delivered to customers.
