Top-selling GEnx Engine Demonstrates 80,500 lbs. of Takeoff Thrust in First Test

PEEBLES, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 21, 2006--General Electric Company's best-selling GEnx engine - with already more than 575 engines ordered for three new commercial aircraft - demonstrated 80,500 lbs. of takeoff thrust during ground testing today at GE's outdoor testing facility in Peebles, Ohio.

Ground testing on the GEnx engine began with idle runs on March 19, and then reached 80,500 lbs. of standard day sea-level takeoff thrust on March 21.

Dutch Fertilizer Manufacturer Selects New Frame 5-2E Gas Turbine From GE Oil & Gas

FLORENCE, ITALY - March 20, 2006 : -- Yara Sluiskil B.V. of the Netherlands will replace a gas turbine at its fertilizer plant in Sluiskil with an MS5002E (Frame 5-2E) gas turbine from GE's Oil & Gas business, marking the first project for this new GE technology.
Operating in a cogeneration mode with a waste heat recovery generator, the new machine will produce 30 megawatts of electrical power for the plant and 50 tons per hour of steam to be used for production processes. Yara Sluiskil B.V. produces 3.5 million tons of nitrogenous fertilizer per year.
