GE Gas Turbines Selected for New 380-Megawatt Power Plant in Sharjah

February 22, 2006

Sharjah, February 22, 2006 -- Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority (SEWA) has selected GE Energy's gas turbine technology for the Hamriyah Power Station, located in the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

GE will supply four Frame 9E gas turbines for phase one of the simple-cycle, base load power plant, which will add 380 megawatts of capacity to the Sharjah electricity grid. The primary fuel will be natural gas.

Dubai, 12 February, 2006: GE, the global technology, media and financial services company, raised AED 16,500 for cancer research in the UAE by taking part in the Dubai Terry Fox Run 2006 - Marathon of Hope race for the third year in a row. Almost 80 charity runners from GE's Women's Network and GE Volunteers took part in the 6.2 kilometer distance run which started at the Wonderland Creek and headed out to the Al Maktoum Bridge before returning to the Creek.

GE Energy Selected to Supply Distributed Control System for Power Plant in Egypt

Abu Dhabi, UAE, 30 January, 2006: GE Energy will supply a distributed control system (DCS) to NEM bv of Leiden, the Netherlands for the Cairo North 2 power plant, an 800-megawatt, combined-cycle plant operated by the state-owned Cairo Production Company. This will be the first GE DCS installed in Egypt.
