The 2019 Paris Air Show has been one for the records books for GE and CFM International, a 50-50 joint venture between GE and Safran Aircraft Engines. As of Tuesday, the companies have won deals valued at more than $50 billion. But the show wasn’t only about the money. It was also about technology and engineering. On Monday, David Joyce, GE Aviation president and CEO, unveiled the GE9X, the world’s largest commercial jet engine. “[It is] the biggest, most advanced, wide body engine in the world,” Joyce said. “This engine's 134 inches in diameter, it has additive manufacturing technology, [and] ceramic matrix composites. It's a terrific product.” Take a look at our infographic to find out why (click on the graphic to enlarge it).
