Smallworld PowerOn® Outage Management Software Enhanced

October 07, 2003

Delivers improved network reliability and outage management

ATLANTA, GEORGIA (October 7, 2003) --- GE Power Systems, a leading supplier of network dependability products, servicing the utilities and telecommunications industries, announces an enhancement for Smallworld PowerOn with the introduction of the 3.0 software product. Designed to manage outage status information, the application allows utility personnel to accurately reflect the current state of the network and report the results of the restoration process.
Since it was first introduced in the summer of 1998, Smallworld PowerOn has provided large utility customers with a tool that has had significant impact on reducing their outage restoration time. This latest version of Smallworld PowerOn introduces new workflow concepts that accommodate utility customers of all sizes and varying voltage levels, providing a seamless method for customers to better manage operational efficiencies and crew dispatch efforts during outage events.
"I am always thrilled when we introduce products that can have an immediate and significant impact in helping customers to better manage outages and incidents experienced on a daily basis," said James Robertson, general manager, Network Reliability Services, a GE Power Systems business.
