The City of Tallahassee Utilities Rebate + Incentives Are Greater Than What You Pay for the Water Heater Itself
LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--With a special $1,200 rebate for The City of Tallahassee Utilities customers valid through Sept. 30, 2010, and a Federal tax credit of up to $480 through Dec. 31, 2010, homeowners could end up saving more than the estimated retail price of $1,599* for a new GeoSpring™ Hybrid Water Heater. Its hybrid technology cuts energy usage up to 62 percent without sacrificing a single drop of hot water [1]. Twice the technology. Half the bill.
Rebates and incentives make the GeoSpring a win-win investment
Through Sept. 30, 2010, the combined value of The City of Tallahassee Utilities rebate and other incentives is greater than what you pay for the GeoSpring itself.

Even more ways to save
Many Americans don't think twice about upgrading their primary television set every couple of years. But what about the old family refrigerator --- how many of us stop to consider the refrigerator and whether it should be replaced? According to the U.S. Department of Energy, we should. The DOE has found that a home refrigerator typically uses five times as much energy as the average television uses, based on national averages. [2]
Reducing the amount of energy a typical family uses by running older appliances is the rationale behind a federally funded Cash for Appliances program, which is designed to encourage consumers to upgrade from energy-hogging appliances to ones that are energy efficient. The Department of Energy estimates that a home's appliances account for about 20 percent of the monthly energy bill. If the appliances are older and low-efficiency, then the cost of running them can really add up.
More rebates available for ENERGY STAR® appliances
In addition to the rebate available for the GeoSpring hybrid water heater, The City of Tallahassee Utilities is offering its residential customers rebates for the purchase of certain ENERGY STAR® plug-in appliances. Qualifying appliances include refrigerators, freezers and clothes washers. Rebate applications must be received within three months of the installation's purchase receipt date.
The City of Tallahassee Utilities rebates include:
- Refrigerators: $150 Rebate
- Freezers: $80 Rebate
- Clothes Washers: $200 Rebate
- Heat Pump Water Heater: $1,200 Rebate
The ENERGY STAR®-qualified GE Profile™ SmartDispense™ Frontload Washers with Steam Technology use as little as 10 gallons of water for a small load and can save more than 5,800 gallons of water per year compared to a typical topload washer [3]. Advanced water extraction and the dryer's moisture sensors help reduce drying time for added energy savings.
And that old family refrigerator? Beyond the cash incentive offered through Cash for Appliances, there are environmental reasons for upgrading to a GE ENERGY STAR®-qualified model. For example, a single ENERGY STAR®-qualified GE refrigerator is designed to avoid the emissions of more than 2,200 lbs. of carbon dioxide over the course of its lifetime compared to a conventional refrigerator over the same 13-year period; this is equivalent to the carbon dioxide absorbed in one year by 1/4 acre of trees in a southeastern U.S. forest.
