GE Power Systems Offers New Upgrade to PC Sprint® Units

May 06, 2003

DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY (May 6, 2003) --- GE Power Systems is now offering a new upgrade to existing LM6000 PC Sprint units that can increase power output as much as two megawatts, improve heat rating and produce a quieter exhaust flow with less vibration in downstream components.
The Enhanced Flow and Speed (EFS) system, developed by GE Aeroderivative and Package Services (GE APS), may increase the power output by four percent at ISO conditions. The upgrade improves performance of the LM6000 PC Sprint through a combination of Variable Inlet Guide Vanes (VIGV), increased core speed, an optimized Sprint water injection schedule and core upgrade software enhancements which enable a higher airflow through the gas turbine at base load conditions.
The Enhanced Flow and Speed system is another example of GE's innovative Value Pack upgrades. These Value Packs are designed to give customers the competitive edge they need in today's dynamic marketplace.
Additionally, GE's Sprint spray intercooling system can provide LM6000 units with 10 percent more power at ISO conditions than LM6000 PC models. If not already installed, GE recommends purchasing the Sprint and EFS upgrades simultaneously.
GE APS provides after-market support for the gas turbine industry consisting of services such as maintenance, repair and field support, as well as parts, conversions and upgrades for power generation, mechanical drive and marine applications.
