Airbus Gets 1st Production Jet Engines With 3D-Printed Parts From CFM

The European aircraft maker Airbus received the first two production models of the LEAP-1A engine for the next-generation Airbus A320neo passenger jet on April 2. The delivery is a milestone both for Airbus and CFM International, the 50/50 joint venture between GE Aviation and France’s Snecma (Safran) that developed them.

GE Asks To End U.S. Regulatory Oversight As GE Capital Transformation Races On

Last spring, GE said it would speed up its transformation into a “digital-industrial” company by selling most of GE Capital’s assets and keep the remainder tightly tied to its industrial core. It kept its word.
The company has signed approximately $165 billion in deals and fully completed transactions valued at $145 billion from that total.

He wasn’t joking. “We’re the only company that will have the machines, analytics and operating systems,” he said. “That’s how we’ll play the Industrial Internet.”

From Appliances To Apps: GE To Sell Its Appliances Business To Haier For $5.4 Billion

GE said this morning it would sell its Appliances business to Haier for $5.4 billion. The company will also enter into a strategic partnership with the Asian white goods manufacturer to work on projects involving the industrial Internet, healthcare and advanced manufacturing.
“We are proud of Appliances’ history and performance,” said Jeff Immelt, GE chairman and CEO. “GE Appliances is performing well and there was significant interest from potential buyers, helping drive a good deal which will benefit our investors, customers and employees.”

The brand publishing mavens at Contently included GE Reports on their list of the best branded content in 2015. “If Red Bull is the popular skater-jock at your high school, GE is the hot valedictorian science nerd who everyone should be trying to marry,” wrote Joe Lazauskas, editor-in-chief of Contently’s Strategist magazine, which just published the annual list.
