GE's 1.5 MW wind turbine is the world's most popular platform. GE India's manufacturing facility in Pune builds 1.5-77 (1.5 MW capacity with 77 m rotor diameter) and 1.6-82.5 (1.6 MW capacity with 82.5 m rotor diameter) Class IIIb wind turbine products.

GE's turbines have key features designed specifically for conditions in India—a large rotor diameter harnesses low wind speeds. Voltage ride-through technologies make possible integration with weak grids. It's a cutting edge system that is ideal for the Indian environment.

GE engineers developed the turbines to operate throughout India, including areas of hilly terrain where transporting wind energy components pose a challenge. GE's logistics teams have worked to overcome these challenges while adhering to global quality and EHS standards.

In India, the turbine is engineered for ease of integration and delivery to a wide range of locations, including those with challenging site conditions or poor wind resources. There are 1.5 MW turbine power projects in the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

1.5 MW-77 m Turbine

Building on GE's original Class I wind turbine, the 1.5-70.5, the 1.5-77 has increased rotor length and controls technology resulting in greater annual energy production.
