Terms & conditions

  • GEITC will enter into an agreement with the university of the winning team, to award a prize of INR 2 lakh to the winning team and incubation grant of INR 8 lakh to the university.
  • GEITC will enter into an agreement with the university of the runner-up team, to award a prize of INR 1 lakh to the runner-up team and incubation grant of INR 4 lakh to the university.
  • The university which receives the grant shall be responsible for disbursal of the funds which are awarded to the participants as well as the funds granted and set out as the incubation amount. GE shall enter into an agreement with the university on the same.
  • The university will be ultimately responsible for the usage of the funds allocated to the winning and the runner-up teams. In the event of any complaints or concerns raised by any of the participants, the same shall be handled by the university. The university agrees to keep GE indemnified against all such claims by any third party or other participants.
  • In the event of any change in the constitution of the winning or runner-up team, the same shall be dealt with by the university who shall decide on how the project can be taken forward.
  • The team's entry must be their original work failing which the entry shall be treated as invalid. In the event of any dispute by any third party or any other participant against any entry, the relevant participant against whom the claim has been made shall be responsible for any claims and GE shall be indemnified against all such claims by any third party or other participants.
  • The entry, in part or full should not have been published / patented / submitted for any other competition by either you or any other person or entity.
  • The entry should not have been supported fully or partially by any private / public-funding agency or institute or company or any other entity.
  • Entries shouldn't violate or infringe on any copyright / patent / publication norms of any person or entity and should be compliant as per applicable laws in India. If any participant violates this term GE shall be indemnified of any action legal or otherwise and the participants and the faculty certifying the same shall be responsible for such violation and no action can be initiated by any person or entity against GE for such violation by the participants.
  • Entries that are contrary to the spirit of the competition shall be disqualified at the sole discretion of the jury.
  • The participants shall have to maintain complete integrity and honesty is making submissions. Any violation of law or any data not personally owned by the participants but shared as their own shall be the participant’s own violation and GE is fully indemnified against any claims, actions, demands, deeds, etc. that arise out of the submission of application by the participants.
  • GE reserves rights to take action against the participants for any integrity violation either against the company or any third party.
  • No disputes with regards to any terms and conditions and process shall be entertained.
  • The decision of the judges appointed by GE shall be final and binding.
  • No substitution or transfer of prize shall be permitted.
  • The organizer is not responsible for any dispute arising regarding prize disbursal.
  • If a winner cannot, or will not accept a prize, then the prize will be forfeited.
  • Taxes, if any, may be deducted as per the law of the land.
  • By accepting a prize you agree to participate in promotional events and activities without any additional payment that may include, but are not limited to, showcases of your entry at industry events, and you agree to allow GE to use your name on presentation slides and other materials for promoting the competition on GE’s internet sites and in other documentation. That may take various forms, including printed materials, online articles, video, audio, and other digital recordings.
  • All efforts will be made to adhere to the dates; specified but unforeseen circumstances might force changes in the dates at the sole discretion of GE.
  • By submitting the entries it is deemed that the participants have accepted and agreed to all the terms and conditions of this contest.
  • The institute of the participating team shall keep GE indemnified against any third party Intellectual Property infringement.
  • The criteria of selection/short listing shall be the sole opinion of the jury collectively. This cannot be challenged by any of the entrants.
  • GE shall not entertain or be held responsible for any dispute arising regarding the Edison Challenge.
  • The participants / universities shall be solely responsible to obtain any patent/copyright registrations, if required, for the ideas / projects / submissions / prototypes submitted to GE during the Edison Challenge. As part of this Challenge, GE is interested only in encouraging students to think and contribute towards innovative, technical solutions for India.
  • Once the GE Edison Challenge is completed, if GE is interested in pursuing any of the ideas submitted either by the winner / runner-up or any other participant for commercial exploitation, GE would then approach the participants / university for licenses to use the idea and to further develop the same.
  • By submitting the entries it is deemed that the participants have accepted and agreed to all the terms and conditions of this contest.
