What can upgrading do for you?

9F.05 gas turbines may experience increased Inlet Bleed Heat (IBH) at base load, causing higher levels of degradation than typical F-class units. This frequent IBH issue is caused by measures taken to protect against reduced performance over time through normal degradation. These measures, called operating line limit (OLL) protection, use IBH to maintain performance levels, reduce compressor operating pressure at low temperatures and protect against damaging surges or stalls. The 9F.05 controls reduce OLL over time to help protect against degradation effects, based on a fixed degradation curve.

The right solution to reduce IBH issues at a particular unit may require some or all the available options:

  • Bore Plug Removal
  • Fired Hour Credit (FHC)
  • Compressor Unit-Specific Protection (CUSP)
  • Modified S1N

How we get you there

GE Gas Power’s Compressor Unit-Specific Protection (CUSP) is the right digital technology to address turbine issues from increased inlet bleed heat (IBH) engagement, because it is based on accurate individual unit performance, not average performance curves. CUSP digitally measures compressor flow-loss and schedules compressor OLLs—based fully on gas turbine specific level of compressor fouling.

Results vary by turbine type and configuration. CUSP can provide a margin of up to 3% reduction* in pressure ratio.
