A pipeline company was experiencing excessive corrective maintenance on compressors. This company responded by linking the ability to provide early warning of equipment problems with its maintenance and dispatch system. The company implemented GE predictive analytics software on several gas transmission line compressors with various drive types (i.e., gas piston, electric, and diesel). Within the first four months, this user saved $2.6 million.
This project accomplished two objectives: finding problems earlier, and ensuring that maintenance teams show up prepared to tackle the correct problems. With the GE solution, it receives early warning of equipment problems, coupled with better intelligence of emerging compressor and prime-mover performance.
As a result, this company has been able to realize improvements in corrective maintenance, including fewer events, shorter durations, and lowered costs.
