The HIMSS Conference & Exhibition is one of the most important health IT events of the year. This year’s event was held February 23-27 in Orlando, Florida, and attracted more than 37,000 healthcare IT professionals, clinicians, executives, and vendors from around the world.

At HIMSS 2014, GE Healthcare announced its latest software advances and highlighted its Industrial Internet investment through innovations made possible by GE’s Predix software platform and several new product launches. Solutions from across HCIT along with our partnerships and joint ventures with Intel and Microsoft were represented in the booth.

A centerpiece of the exhibit floor, the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase featured state-of-the-art interactive demonstrations showing how multi-vendor systems share patient data across a range of healthcare settings including nationwide health information networks (NHIN), ambulatory clinics, and hospitals or IDNs. Six GE Healthcare products/systems participated in the Interoperability Showcase this year, and GE’s overall HIMSS presence was built around the theme “connecting productivity with care.”

Predictivity Solutions

Centricity 360 from GE Predictivity helps distributed care teams collaborate on patient cases more efficiently. It is a secure cloud environment powered by Predix, enabling unaffiliated providers to discuss cases, obtain second opinions, and exchange patient data in real time. Unlike typical image exchange technologies, Centricity 360 integrates the intuitive design of a professional social network while also providing administrators with comprehensive analytics for usage and referral tracking.

GE’s Hospital Operations Management (HOM) portfolio gives hospitals real-time access to operational data. Comprehensively managing the scheduling, flow, and availability of staff, patients, and assets can help hospitals realize significant productivity gains.

HOM is looking to change the delivery of healthcare by helping to reduce patient and staff delays throughout the care journey, while making it more efficient.

HOM provides a complete picture to decision makers, working to bring resources together to deliver enhanced care. It does this by replacing disparate operational systems with a single control system that functions in a similar manner to an air traffic control system—acquiring, organizing, and presenting data from multiple sources in a way that is simple. HOM helps keep operations running smoothly across the entire hospital system.

About HIMSS

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is a cause-based global enterprise producing health IT thought leadership, education, events, market research, and media services around the world. Founded in 1961, HIMSS encompasses more than 52,000 individuals, of which more than two-thirds work in healthcare provider, governmental, and not-for-profit organizations across the globe, plus over 600 corporations and 250 not-for-profit partner organizations that share this cause. Headquartered in Chicago, HIMSS serves the global health IT community with additional offices in the United States, Europe, and Asia.

HOM is powered by an intelligent software platform (AgileTrac) that allows dynamic real-time data collection and discrete event-based, simulation-enabled prediction focused on:

  • Asset Optimization
  • Patient Flow Optimization
  • Workforce Optimization
