On January 28-30, more than 9,000 attendees converged on San Antonio, Texas, for DistribuTECH 2014, the electric and gas utilities industry’s largest annual conference. Historically, the event brings together industry leaders to tackle the most pressing issues facing utilities globally, and this year upheld that tradition. GE Digital Energy hosted a major booth on the show floor to showcase our approach to big data challenges facing utilities. DistribuTECH provided the perfect setting for GE to unveil Grid IQ Insight's Advanced Meter Insight, a new GE Predictivity™ solution powered byPredix™, GE’s software platform for the Industrial Internet.

Advanced Meter Insight turns meter data into business value by providing a real-time data platform for deploying turnkey analytics that visualize and optimize a utility’s operations and assets. Advanced Meter Insight is the first of five analytic applications that GE Digital Energy plans to release under Grid IQ Insight. Because Grid IQ Insight is powered by Predix, it has the scale, security, and extensibility to meet the demands and expectations of today's utilities as they seek to uncover value in the data they are collecting.

In launching the solution, Franco Castaldini, GE Software’s product marketing manager for Grid IQ Insight, announced, "What we've done with the release of Advanced Meter Insight is combine our deep domain knowledge with the investments we've made in data science and application development to create a solution that tackles the key issues for utilities today, such as revenue protection, meter health, power quality, and load forecasting and research."

Throughout DistribuTECH, GE highlighted Advanced Meter Insight's ability to make data actionable. By providing customizable role-based dashboards, Advanced Meter Insight makes data relevant to users whether they are are in the boardroom or in the field. From that point, taking action on new insights is just a click away.
